In 2011, the EPA came forward with a proposal to label nanoscale cosmetic ingredients as part of a number of proposed amendments to the cosmetics regulations. The Sustainability Council made this submission in support of labelling but noted that labelling alone does not properly protect New Zealanders from the risks that nanocosmetic ingredients pose.
